Rhinoplasty

What is Rhinoplasty ?

A nose surgery (technically called a rhinoplasty) is surgery on the nose to change its shape or improve its function.

It can be done for medical reasons, such as: To correct breathing problems related to the nose or correct disfigurement resulting from trauma or birth defects. It can also be done for cosmetic reasons, which will change the nose’s shape and appearance.

A nose job is usually done as an outpatient procedure, meaning there is no overnight stay. The patient will get general or local anesthesia, where he/she will be sedated and the nose will be numbed.

During the procedure, the surgeon makes cuts within the nostrils. In more difficult cases, the surgeon may also make cuts across the base of the nose. The surgeon, then, reshapes the inner bone and cartilage to produce a more pleasing appearance.

How to ensure a safe nose surgery and reduce its risks?

The area around the nose is surrounded by arteries and veins and the exact pattern of these vessels varies from one person to another. If a blood vessel is inadvertently hit with a needle or a surgical blade, it can lead to a significant bruise and possibly the failure of a surgery. Therefore, the use of a vein detector is highly recommended for plastic surgeons since the veins and tissues surrounding the nose are impossible to see with the naked eye.

Vein finders draw a real-time mapping of veins beneath the face skin and can minimize the surgery’s side effects, such as bruises and ruptures.

For plastic surgeons, a trolley type vein viewer would work as an assistant, which guides the practitioner throughout the whole operation.

The FDA / CE approved SIFVEIN-1.0 visualizes veins and arteries at the depth of 10 mm with a fully digital image acquisition and display mode and most importantly, it is a portable vein finder which is equipped with a trolley which makes it easy to fix in the right position.

The trolley type vein viewer can be used for the pre-operational procedures, such as: anesthesia to avoid wrong and repetitive injections, which can save doctors’ time and reduces patients’ stress.

The SIFVEIN-1.0 assures patients’ satisfaction since it provides a very high accuracy, fitting the need of the plastic surgeon during incisions and injections.
